1. Educational Content Only
All content on WeightSherpa — including articles, drug pages, program reviews, comparison tables, calculators, eligibility checkers, Matcher results, and AI chat responses — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended as, and does not constitute, medical advice. Nothing on the Site is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and nothing on the Site establishes a patient-provider relationship between you and WeightSherpa or any of its personnel.
Always seek the advice of a licensed physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding your weight, a medical condition, a medication, a dosage, a side effect, an interaction, or a treatment plan. Never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you read on WeightSherpa.
2. About GLP-1 Medications
WeightSherpa covers GLP-1 receptor agonists and related medications (including semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide, and similar compounds, sold under brand names such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, Zepbound®, Saxenda®, Rybelsus®, and others). These medications are prescription drugs and carry significant risks and potential side effects. Only a licensed healthcare provider can determine whether a GLP-1 medication is appropriate for you, which formulation and dose are suitable, and how to monitor your response.
Potential risks and contraindications associated with GLP-1 medications may include, without limitation: thyroid C-cell tumors (boxed warning for certain products), pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, acute kidney injury, severe gastrointestinal side effects (including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and ileus), diabetic retinopathy complications, hypoglycemia (particularly when used with insulin or sulfonylureas), hypersensitivity reactions, and effects on pregnancy and breastfeeding. Some of these medications are contraindicated in individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). This list is not exhaustive. Always read the current FDA-approved prescribing information (labeling) and Medication Guide for the specific product your provider prescribes.
3. Compounded GLP-1 Products
Some programs and pharmacies listed on WeightSherpa offer compounded versions of GLP-1 medications. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. Compounded products may only be legally dispensed in specific circumstances, including during confirmed FDA drug shortages and pursuant to a valid prescription from a licensed prescriber after an individualized clinical assessment. Shortage status and the legal basis for compounding can change at any time based on FDA determinations. Before starting a compounded product, we strongly encourage you to discuss the risks, quality-assurance practices of the pharmacy (including whether it is a 503A or 503B facility), ingredient sourcing, and monitoring plan with a licensed healthcare provider. WeightSherpa does not endorse or warrant the safety, efficacy, potency, sterility, or legality of any compounded product.
4. Off-Label Use
Some content on WeightSherpa discusses off-label uses of medications (uses that have not been specifically approved by the FDA for that indication). Off-label prescribing is legal and common, but it carries its own risks and should be considered only in consultation with a licensed healthcare provider who can evaluate your individual situation.
5. Drug Information, Pricing, and Availability
Drug approvals, indications, dosing, warnings, contraindications, adverse events, shortage status, cash pricing, and insurance coverage change frequently. While we strive to keep content current, information on WeightSherpa may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Always verify current information with the FDA, the manufacturer’s prescribing information, your pharmacist, or a licensed healthcare provider before making any treatment decision.
6. Calculators, Eligibility Checkers, and Matcher Results
Tools on WeightSherpa — including BMI calculators, dose calculators, savings calculators, insurance and eligibility checkers, and the Sherpa Matcher — are estimators based on the information you provide and general publicly available data. They do not consider your complete medical history, diagnostic testing, or individual clinical factors. Their outputs are approximations for educational use and should not be relied upon for clinical decisions. Results are not a prescription, a diagnosis, a guarantee of eligibility, a guarantee of insurance coverage, or a guarantee of pricing or availability with any third-party provider.
7. AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Content
Certain content on WeightSherpa is created or updated with the assistance of generative AI, and our Matcher and chat features are powered by AI. AI outputs may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect, and may occasionally generate plausible-sounding but inaccurate information (“hallucinations”). All AI-assisted content addressing clinical or safety-sensitive topics undergoes human editorial review before publication, but AI outputs you receive from interactive tools in real time do not receive individualized clinician review. You are responsible for independently verifying any information before acting on it. See our Disclosure Policy for details on our AI practices.
8. Third-Party Providers and Programs
WeightSherpa links to third-party telehealth platforms, pharmacies, coaching programs, and other providers. We are not responsible for the clinical practices, prescribing decisions, fulfillment practices, product quality, licensure, privacy practices, or outcomes of any third-party provider. Any medical consultation, prescription, or treatment you obtain from a third party is solely between you and that provider. You should confirm that any telehealth provider is licensed to practice in your state and that any pharmacy is appropriately licensed and in good standing before engaging their services.
9. Eating Disorders, Pregnancy, and Other High-Risk Situations
WeightSherpa is not intended for individuals with active eating disorders, individuals who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, children and adolescents, or individuals with certain medical conditions for whom weight-loss medications may be contraindicated. If any of these apply to you, please consult a qualified healthcare provider before using information from this Site to make health-related decisions. If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, the National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline is available at 1-866-662-1235.
10. No Guarantee of Results
Weight loss, health outcomes, and response to medications vary significantly from person to person. Testimonials, case studies, and patient stories on WeightSherpa reflect individual experiences and are not typical or guaranteed. No content on the Site should be interpreted as a promise of specific weight-loss results, clinical outcomes, or approval by any insurer or telehealth program.
11. Assumption of Risk
By using WeightSherpa, you acknowledge and agree that any action you take based on information from this Site is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, WeightSherpa, Fiat Growth, LLC, and their personnel shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your reliance on content from the Site or from the acts or omissions of any third-party provider linked from the Site. See our Terms of Service for the full limitation of liability.
12. Reporting Adverse Events
If you believe you have experienced a serious side effect from a medication, contact your healthcare provider immediately. You can also report adverse events to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration through the MedWatch program at fda.gov/medwatch or by calling 1-800-FDA-1088.
